Greg Lake's last meeting exposed how the popular Xmas songwriter really experienced about the joyful period

I Believe In Dad Xmas musician Greg Pond has missing his fight with melanoma and approved away older 69.

The Master Violet and Emerson, Pond and Palmer front man, whose joyful monitor hit No 2 in 1975, approved away on Wed his administrator Stewart Younger verified on Facebook or my space.


A declaration said: “Yesterday, Dec 7th, I missing my mate to an extended and persistent fight with melanoma. Greg Pond will remain in my center permanently, as he always has been.”

In an meeting soon before his moving, due to be released before Xmas , Greg, of Bournemouth, talked about his emotions on the commercialization of the vacation interval.

He said: “When Pete Sinfield and I had written I Believe In Dad Xmas it was about how Xmas had worsened and was vulnerable to becoming yet another sufferer of crass business economical exploitation.

He continued: “We never had any professional or economical objectives, but of course now everyone wants to know how it seems to obtain all the charming royalties, which are obviously provided by wheelbarrow by Santa himself, after an extended day going up the down everybody’s fireplaces.”


The well known artist was considered as one of the creators of the prog stone field.

Surviving band mate percussionist Carl Palmer, 66, cause the tributes saying: “It is with unhappiness that I must now forget my buddy and other band mate Greg Pond.

“Greg’s increasing speech and talent as a artist will be kept in mind by all who realized his songs and files he created with ELP and Master Violet.

“I have attached to remembrances of those excellent years we had in the Nineteen seventies and many unforgettable reveals we conducted together.

“Having missing Keith this season as well has created this particularly hard for all of us. As Greg conducted at the end of Images At An Exhibition: ‘Death is life’.

“His songs can now remain permanently in the minds and hearts of all who liked him.

Former Genesis participant musician Bob Hackett, 66, added: “Music bows it’s go to recognize the moving of an excellent artist and musician, Greg Pond.”

Meanwhile Yes keyboardist John Wake man, 67, said: “Another sad loss with the moving of Greg Pond.

“You remaining some terrific songs with us my buddy, and so like Keith, you will survive.”

The Who released on their formal Tweets page: “Our condolences to the family and excellent buddies of Greg.

“Greg conducted fish on The Who’s individual Real Good-Looking Boy launched in May 2004. RIP.”

Greg, John Fripp and Eileen Giles, established Master Violet in 1968 and launched their first appearance record In The Judge of the Violet Master in 1969.

He remaining the team after annually, despite performing on their second record In The Awaken Of Poseidon, and joined with Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer; making their remain first appearance in 1970.

Their mix of large stone with traditional impacts, amazing flashing lights and highly effective level existence assisted them offer more than 48million collections - four of which hit the Top five.
