Valentina Shevchenko: Julianna Peña is ‘good martial artist,’ but ‘I’m a master
Valentina Shevchenko had a easy to understand look at what went down Weekend evening.
Julianna Peña, Shevchenko said, isn’t a bad martial specialist. She just isn’t Shevchenko.
“She’s excellent martial specialist,” Shevchenko said. “She’s crazy. But I’m an expert.”
Shevchenko beaten Peña by second-round armbar in the top level of UFC on FOX 23 in Colorado. The entire came as unexpected. Shevchenko comes from a kick-boxing and Muay Chinese reputation, while Peña is known for her wrestling. Yet it was Shevchenko the one finishing the battle with a distribution.
“Like I said before, I’m martial specialist,” Shevchenko said. “I’m not only striker like individuals said. I’m a finish martial specialist — an MMA martial specialist.”
Shevchenko, 28, said she always aspired to battle in MMA, but concentrated on kick-boxing and Muay Chinese, because there were more females doing those. The Kyrgyzstan local started her pro MMA profession long ago again in 2003. She is a multiple-time globe Muay Chinese champ with three victories over UFC women’s strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
Next up for Shevchenko (14-2) should be a women’s bantamweight headline combat Amanda-b Nunes. The two former enemies in the Octagon and had some terms after the top level Weekend evening. Shevchenko said so when the two rectangle off, she’ll be making with the buckle. Nunes responded that the main distinction will be that she completes Shevchenko.
Nunes defeat Shevchenko at UFC 196 last Goal by single choice. Nunes won the first two units and Shevchenko won the third. The next occasion the two fulfill, if all goes as organized, it’ll be a five-round battle. Nunes is arriving off a 48-second ko of Ronda Rousey at UFC 207 last 30 days.
“I know this will be a very different battle with a very different outcome,” Shevchenko said. “How I said before, Amanda-b won not because she was more powerful than me, it was because maybe I provided her a little bit of grounds to take this success. I know for sure I was coaching difficult. Every battle creates me much more powerful and much more powerful.”
